Dr Heidi Leeson has conducted an external evaluation of Health promoting schools (HPS). After crunching through a great deal of data, she concluded effective involvement in HPS can explain:
60% of the increases in attendance observed in HPS schools;
42% of the decreases in stand-downs and suspensions; and
29% of the improvements in reading performance
This is a significant result for HPS. It means that the HPS approach is having a real and positive impact on student outcomes.
