Shayne (Te Arawa, Tainui, Irish) has worked in various public health roles for over 20 years. He has worked in Tairawhiti, Auckland, and Wellington, in local and national roles for DHB’s and the Ministry of Health. Shayne has also been on the board of several organisations, and currently is a trustee on a school Board. Over the last eight years he held several senior roles in the Hutt Valley DHB planning and funding team, before joining the Cancer Society of New Zealand in 2015. His current role is manager advocacy and wellbeing.

Janell is of Te Whakatohea descent and resides in Auckland. Janell graduated from The University of Auckland with a BHSc, and is currently studying Law at UoA. Janell currently works at Hāpai te Hauora as the General Manager for Māori Public Health, working across the areas of nutrition, physical activity, alcohol and other drug harm minimisation and tobacco.
Janell has a strong sense of social justice and a passion for improving health outcomes for Māori. She is a strong advocate for the aspirations of whanau, hapu and iwi, recognising the role of public health as a mere facilitator of wellbeing.

Nicola Potts
Nicola is a Home Economics teacher with over 30 years’ experience. She qualified in Home Science from Otago University and has kept her skills up to date with post-graduate study in public health. She is passionate about teaching food and nutrition to secondary students and over the years has seen a major shift in the teaching of Home Economics to include more societal issues, health promotion and health advocacy. She currently holds a part-time Ministry of Education position as the Home Economics Kaiārahi, as well as teaching in Upper Hutt.

since late 2018 notwithstanding I have worked in various roles at Hāpai for the past ten years. I am also a māmā to three
sons, Sione, Siuta and Sekope, and twin daughters Jordan and Jericho.
Over my tenure in health, I have built a vast knowledge of the sector, and have
contributed to a number of activities and campaigns regionally and national
contributing to increasing physical activity and improved nutrition
