Atua Matua Wānanga
Atua Matua focuses on traditional Māori knowledge with health and physical activity becoming incidental outcomes.
This introductory workshop will engage participants with the Atua Matua framework through environmental skill acquisition.
Dr Ihirangi Heke is a strong supporter of mountain and river connections that can be converted into traditional physical activity and training opportunities suggesting that gains in health can be incidental outcomes that begin with connections to rivers and mountains.
During this wānanga he will share knowledge on Atua and Kaitiaki through his application of mātauranga (knowledge), whakapapa (lineage), huahuatau (metaphoric) interpretations and the application of these to health, nutrition and physical activity (whakapakari tinana).
