The Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa provides training for high school teachers and school nurses to deliver a nine-lesson, curriculum-based healthy lifestyle programme, called GetWize2Health. The nine lessons cover a variety of topics from hauora, basic nutrition, physical activity, common food myths, lifestyle diseases, and health-promoting environments. We hold four workshops throughout the year in varying locations throughout Auckland. Everyone who attends the workshop will receive a Resource Kit which contains a teaching resource manual, fat and sugar display, and various posters and resources from the likes of the Health Promotion Agency and the Ministry of Health. The programme is fully funded by the Ministry of Health.
