Results of Annual Survey Released

Activity and Nutrition Aotearoa (ANA) has welcomed the results of its 2018 annual stakeholder survey as affirmation of its continued value to the sector.

More than 200 members nationwide – ranging from district health boards, health providers and tertiary institutions to charitable trusts, NGOs and private businesses – support the work of the national collective.

ANA connects individuals and organisations engaged in improving NZ’s public health nutrition and physical activity by leading, advocating for, informing and sharing evidence-based research and resources.

Health Promotion Manager Alison Pask is encouraged by the support of ANA’s stakeholders – the response rate for the latest survey is the highest yet – ahead of what will be a busy year.

‘2019 is a pivotal year for ANA, with a new Executive Director and new Executive Board members announced, plus the annual Conference in May to look forward to.

Our vision is that everyone in Aotearoa can and does eat well and leads an active life. The survey responses will be invaluable in helping us to achieve this vision, to inform our work programme, and to ensure we are communicating effectively with our stakeholders.’

Survey respondents singled out ANA’s fortnightly eUpdates and website as the key communication tools, with the e-update rated by more than 90 per cent (92 percent to be exact) of respondents as providing new knowledge that is useful to their work.

A key information tool is the evidence snapshots – which aim to help translate health promotion evidence into action by strengthening the link between researchers and health promoters, as well as making research more accessible and user friendly.

‘For the past 25 years ANA has provided the public health workforce with a niche focused on public health nutrition and physical activity,’ Alison Pask says.

‘Our small team works hard to ensure our stakeholders have the latest evidence at their fingertips – a focus on improving our website content, for example, has resulted in a 172 per cent increase in views in the last six months – and the results of the survey are encouraging in confirming the value that ANA adds to their work.’

We thank our respondents for their time and insights completing the survey. 2019 will provide numerous opportunities for us to stay connected with them all. The annual conference is always of value to stakeholders and we hope to see many of them at our conference in May – and we look forward to continuing our partnership through the next 12 months and beyond.’
